Discrete time signal

Discrete time signals represent a signal using values for a defined period of time within a time series. The value is fixed for each time period. The value may change non-uniformally from one time period to the next. Time periods may not necessarily be of uniform duration depending on whether a uniform or non-uniform sampling is employed. As time progresses, the signal is measured once during each time period and a value associated with the measurement is recorded for that time period.
