Biography:

Having graduated with a 1st Class Hons. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, I went on to work as a research assistant at the University of Plymouth, and completed my Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering in 1997.

After a short time as a temporary lecturer, I moved to industry where I worked as a DSP engineer in communications, and later, in biomedical engineering.

After 5 years, I returned to academia as a permanent Lecturer on a Scholarship and Teaching contract. My focus has been to architect embedded systems teaching here at Plymouth to help student cultivate modern skills in software engineering, software safety and productivity. Research has been focused around biomedical engineering, but my focus to date has been on teaching and scolarship.

I have invested significant time in the Mbed OS platform, to the effect that it has had a marked impact on the scope and ambition of final year projects. The materials (hosted on GitHub) are constantly evolving, and are now being migrated into edu labs.

I am an Arm Ambassador.
